The phantom door of the priest Sanfer Sigm

Abstract

The false door is considered as one of the important architectural elements in ancient Egypt, and it was placed in the interfaces of the tombs and compartments and some of the temples. A panel of the dead was set sitting in front of offering table surrounded by the names and titles and a list of drink to benefit in the Second Life. This false door was made of limestone, and on it was engraved was the name and title of its owner ( Snefer sigm) who was the priest of the King Chechen's group, This door was found in Saqqara and now it is in the Egyptian Museum. By studying the inscriptions on the door and the way of portraying the dead and offering table, it is concluded that this door dates back to the third Dynasty.
