The role of pro-poor tourism in the development of Egyptian society

Abstract

The tourism sector, one important economic sectors in Egypt, to its direct contribution to economic progress through its positive effects on all economic development indicators, and with the growing interest in the world during the era of the nineties of the twentieth century is not only the issue of economic development on the launch, but the issue of poverty reduction in particular. And reducing the incidence of poverty requires policies oriented development to support the poor, and as the tourism industry is one of the largest industries in the world and the fastest in terms of growth rates, since it possesses a set of ingredients that qualify in order to be a effective tool for achieving the goals of development for the poor; where she labor-intensive industry, including employment opportunities for women and the private sector. An industry that is based on the resources and components of natural and cultural, as it is an industry suitable to revive poor regions, has emerged a new direction for tourism development aims to guide the benefits and advantages of the tourism industry for the benefit of the poor, also aims to reduce the negative impacts of the industry on them, and called on the trend of pro- poor tourism.
