Abstract

This study discusses the priorities of tourism markets – origin points- for Egyptian tourism, and the ability to make substantial changes in these priorities, or at least to open the way for more options, that make Arab tourism in general and Saudi tourism in particular in an advanced rank, not completely depending on the Russian market.
The study depends on the descriptive and analytical approach. Interviews were conducted with different officials responsible in Egyptian tourism authorities, with the minister of Egyptian tourism, Egyptian Ambassador in Saudi Arabia and the former head of Egyptian Tourism Promotion Authority, head of general committee of Arab tourism in the Egyptian Tourism Federation and head of Sun Rise Resorts & Cruises and Bright Sky Travel as a representative of the private sector. All these interviews have been conducted during the first “International Forum for Tourism Pioneers” held in Riyadh 15-16 January 2016 when Egypt was the honor guest in order to promote the Saudi tourism to Egypt.
The main result of the study was that Egypt must think of changing the tourism market priorities for promoting tourism during the year, in addition to emphasis on the vital importance of Arab tourism to Egypt all the year round in peak or recession periods, especially the Saudi tourist.
