Geopolitical Tensions and Their Impact on Tourism Demand in Egypt Case Study: The Russian-Ukrainian War

Abstract

The research aims to highlight the impact of geopolitical tensions between Russia and Ukraine on tourism demand in Egypt, aThe research was based on a main hypothesis: that finding alternatives to confront potential scenarios in the Russian-Ukrainian crisis contributes to creating a balance in tourism demand in Egypt. The research community is represented by tourism companies in Hurghada, Red Sea Governorate. The field part was applied to a random sample of (30) individuals from companies that bring tourists, at a confidence level of 95% and an allowable error in estimation of ±5%ز The research results showed the need to find alternative markets to confront potential scenarios in the escalating Russian-Ukrainian crisis and to stay away from areas of geopolitical conflicts such as the BRICS countries (China, India and Brazil) in addition to many African countries, which are considered among the most important emerging markets that can be targeted in the period Currently, building strategic economic alliances to attract new tourism markets that will benefit the recovery of the growth of the tourism sector as it is the most affected by global conditions, to ensure the sustainability of growth rates. The research also recommends directing a group of special marketing packages to Ukrainian tourists and increasing the duration of tourist visas from one month to three or six months to attract them to maintain Egyptian tourism demand and prevent them from heading to destinations closer to them.
