Abstract

Due to the scarcity of studies addressing the economic return of inbound tourism in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the past five years, this study aims to provide a scientific addition to this field by conducting a survey of the return from inbound tourism. The study aims to provide a comprehensive vision about the number of tourists, their spending rate, and how to promote this category economically.

This study defines some terms related to tourism to inspire economists and those capable of this field and enhance the number of tourists and their spending. This study includes some simple mathematical equations for individuals coming to Saudi Arabia.

This study is based on the use of secondary data methodology, which is data available to researchers from reliable sources. It includes data and statistics from the Ministry of Tourism in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and previous relevant scientific studies.

The research questions of this study include: Who are the individuals with the highest spending? Which groups of individuals, countries or continents are best targeted in advertising campaigns? What are the most visited cities within the Kingdom? What type of accommodation do they prefer? Which cities and attractions are most attractive for inbound tourism? In other words, are there destinations and components, whether natural or human, that are attractive to current inbound tourism, and how can the economic return be utilised to develop these destinations? All these questions will be answered in this study.
