Abstract

The studying of tombstones is considered one of the most important studies as it comprises many manuscripts and decorative elements differs in its way of inscription, As well as the types of fonts used in the inscribing it, the date of any antique is known by tombstone or founding text. In this context, this research aims to publish and study the tombstone of Halim Pasha in the cemetery of Sultan Mahmud II in Turkey, which lies in Diwan Yuli Street in the Şenberli Tash neighborhood of the Fatih municipality in Istanbul. It is a cemetery dedicated to the burial of senior Ottoman statemen. The tombstone under study is distinguished by its architecture, arts, and decorations, whose texts are engraved in Turkish in Thuluth script. Therefore, this tombstone was very important as it gives a lot of information and facts about the history of that character and provides us with information about some aspects of his life.
