Ra’s Nightly Solar Bark, or Solar Boat, is a central concept in ancient Egyptian mythology, representing the Solar Bark of Ra's journey through the underworld, or Duat, each night. This journey was believed to be essential for Ra's rebirth and his continued illumination of the world.
In ancient Egyptian mythology, the Guiding Gods played the role of guides and protectors of Ra’s nightly journey through the Duat (Underworld) without being physically aboard the Solar Bark. These gods often acted from outside the boat.
In the Underworld Books, the Guiding Gods appear in a number of scenes in the tombs of the Valley of the Kings; these gods had a specific form and role in the Underworld.
The Guiding Gods, those who weren’t physically on the boat but acted as star-gods guiding or towing the Solar Bark, gate guardians, hour guardians, or environmental allies in the underworld realms.
This study aims to describe the scenes of The Guiding Gods and analyses their roles and aspects. To achieve the aims of the study, the researcher will employ a descriptive analytical methodology, describing scenes in which The Guiding Gods makes an appearance and analyzing the appearance of The Guiding Gods and texts.
