al-Ṣāliḥ Najm al-Dīn Ayyub built Madrasa(s) at square of between the two palaces (Maydān Bayn al-Qaṣryn) then, his widow Shajar al-Durr attached a dome to it. Henceforth, Maydān Bayn al-Qaṣryn cought the eyes of prominent Baḥrī Mamluk sultans to construct their religious and funeral architectures within. It is worth mentioning that Baḥrī Mamluk sultans competed with Ayyubid sultans on construction movement in the main ruling area in walled Cairo, i.e. Maydān Bayn al-Qaṣryn. This research seeks to study competitive dimension among Ayyubid and Mamluk sultans and its influence on architecture during Baḥrī Mamluk period. It focuses on examining three building in the context of competitive, they are: Madrasa(s) and dome of al-Ṣāliḥ Najm al-Dīn Ayyub, Madrasa of al-Ẓāhir Baybars al-Bunduqdāry and Complex of al-Manṣūr Qalawwn. This research followed analytical and comparative approach. It was concluded that competitive affected prosperously on architecture where each sultan tried to show his edifice more grandiose than that of his predecessors. So, several manifestations of competitive were produced, among them are propagandistic location, speed of terminating construction works, height and measurements.
