The study aims to shed light on the concept of change management and its adaptations. Also to assess the requirements of change management including environmental changes, conditions, regulation and management policies as well as employees development policies. This will be achieved through a self-administered questionnaire addressed to the employees in the Egyptian air companies. The results indicated that the most prominent requirement is the clarification of the employees’ development policies. Other identified requirements through this investigation were: clearing the concept of change management, identifying whether the Air companies analyse the external environmental changes, highlighting the regulation and management policies in the Egyptian air companies. The results revealed significant differences among respondents based on their years of experience and their awareness and perceptions towards these requirements. Recommendations are given to provide decision makers with realistic data and help them adopt policies and procedures that will enhance the positive aspects and give up the negatives. This will improve the performance of the Egyptian air lines, and raise the level of their performance and give them the opportunity to progress.

Ancient Egyptian Footwear is not only a protective foot covering but also has a considerable symbolic content. Manufacturing technology of the ancient Egyptian footwear was systematically studied by the Ancient Egyptian Footwear Project (AEFP). The collection is exhibited but is not presented as it should be. Furthermore, visitors of the museum have no opportunity to observe this collection since the building is closed[1]. The ancient Egyptian Footwear collection (Table) housed in one of the new agriculture museums buildings in Giza that comes mainly from Deir el Madina includes 17 sandals and 2 open shoes. Comparing the collection with other Ancient Egyptian Footwear showed that the collection should fall in the New Kingdom.

The Role of Tunis Village in Fayoum Governorate as a Cultural Tourism Model
دور قریة تونس فی محافظة الفیوم کنموذج للسیاحة الثقافیة

Tunis village in Fayoum Governorate is one of the best practices for cultural tourism in Egypt. It was re-discovered in the sixties by the Egyptian poet Sayed Hegab and his Swiss wife Evelynne Porret. Nowadays, Tunis village has a pottery school, ten pottery studios, several guest houses and hosts an Annual Pottery Festival. Data collection involved: a questionnaire survey with tourists visiting Tunis Village; in-depth interviews with some expert pottery artists. As a secondary method, participant observation technique was conducted, which included contribution to the Annual Pottery Festival, which was held in Tunis Village between 28th and 30th November 2013. Inside Tunis village, there are some positive aspects such as friendly interaction between local people with tourists, in addition to the existence of many activities for tourists (cultural, nature, and sports activities), while negative aspects at Tunis village are that local artists do not speak any languages other than Arabic language; the prices are exaggerated and the signage is poor. The paper recommends qualified English speaking vendors at the pottery studios to communicate with tourists.

The Ba houses, being a collection of pottery models (burnt clay) of simple work and religious funerary meaning placed above the tombs have appeared in the tombs and cemeteries of individuals since the end of the Old Kingdom until the Thirteen Dynasty, to serve the spirit of the deceased through a series of rituals causing the eternal life of the deceased in the afterlife.
These houses have been found in many areas of Central and Upper Egypt, as well as Lower Nubia and oases. Three models of Ba houses are exhibited in the Agricultural Museum in Dokki dating back to the Middle Kingdom.

The close relationship between film and tourism industry created a niche tourism trend; film-induced tourism. Destination management organizations (DMOs) are key stakeholders for generating film-induced tourism. The main aim of this study is to explore the current film-induced marketing activities undertaken by DMOs in Egypt. The literature review indicated that DMOs can adopt multiple marketing activities to promote film-induced tourism for their destinations. However, they face challenges when achieving their activities. Based on a purposive sample, the primary data were collected by using semi-structured face to face interviews with key experts in the Egyptian DMOs. The key findings of the practical study revealed that DMOs did not introduce any successful or innovative activities to develop film-induced tourism except producing short publicity and documentary films. The study also provides DMOs with important insights that could aid in encouraging film-induced tourism.

Hospitality organizations and travel companies need leaders who are not only emotionally intelligent but who also have an ability to realize and understand the values of their followers that are beneficial both to the service climate and the followers themselves. This study examines the predictive relationship between emotional intelligence and transformational leadership style in hotels and travel companies, investigates how the dimensions of emotional intelligence are associated with supervisor’s transformational leadership, assesses if there is any differences in the relationship between emotional intelligence and transformational leadership style in respect to business type. Data were collected from 234 managers (78% response rate) by using the Emotional Quotient Inventory questionnaire (EQ-I) and from 468 employees (72% response rate) by using the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ). The results of this study indicate that emotional intelligence is positively related to transformational leadership (p < 0.05). Moreover, a significant predictive relationship (p < 0.05) was found between emotional intelligence and transformational leadership stylewith a variability of 56.8%. Also, the results revealed that the predictive power of emotional intelligence was explained by only the dimensions: “Intrapersonal”, “Interpersonal”, “Stress Management” and “General mood”. In addition, the results showed that no significant interaction (p > 0.05) was found between business type (hotel or Travel Company) and emotional intelligence while predicting transformational leadership style.

This study investigates safety and security measures from Egyptian hotel guests’ viewpoint, through assessing the importance level and usage level of measuring and testing the gap between the importance and usage of measures. Using IPA Methodology, a stratified random sample was chosen. 500 questionnaires were randomly distributed to guests in 5-star hotels. The results indicated that the highly important and rarely usage measures are related to three dimensions; “Medical Preparedness, Guestroom Security, and Emergency Preparedness”. Meanwhile, the less important and widely used measures are related to two dimensions; “Detectors, and Access Control”. Additionally, there is a statistically significant gap between the importance level and the usage level of measures. Hence, there are opportunities for changes and improvements in Egyptian hotels.

Customers generally have a tendency to compare the service they 'experience' with the service they ‘expect’. If the perception does not match the expectation, there arises a gap, which could refer to a satisfaction or dissatisfaction. Tourist satisfaction is an important element due to its role in destination survival. This paper estimates the gaps between tourists’ expectations and perceptions. It also identifies the differences among nationalities of tourists in their perception of services provided in Cairo as a tourist destination; also it determines the dependence of tourists’ future behavioral intention on satisfaction or dissatisfaction of services. The results showed gaps between what tourists expect and what they perceive; also indicated a difference among nationalities in their perception .in addition it was found that the tourists’ future behavioral intention is dependent on the services that meet tourists over all expectations.

Abu Naddara: The Forerunner of Egyptian Satirical Press
Abu Naddara: The Forerunner of Egyptian Satirical Press

"Abu Naddara" was an early satirical journal that was first published in Cairo in 1878 by Yaqub Sannu. After Sannu's collision with Khedive Ismail and eventual departure to Paris, he continued to publish it there for almost three successive decades uninterruptedly, however under various changeable names. This journal was by all means the forerunner of satirical opposition press in modern Egypt. In a relatively very short time, "Abu Naddara" gained tremendous success through its humorous but rather bold and scathing criticism of Khedive Ismail's and later Khedive Tewfik's regime that helped turn public opinion against them. No wonder, it soon won popularity because it gave a voice to the downtrodden masses who found in it an outlet for their long-bottled anger. In other words, it turned to be their Vox populi that addressed their pressing problems and expressed their pains. Accordingly, it emerged as a political platform that stood in the face of corruption and social injustice, called for an all-encompassing reform, and most of all raised country-wide national awareness in the hope to develop grass-root activism. This paper investigates the role played by the journal of "Abu Naddara" in spearheading the national opposition against Khedival excesses together with the growing foreign intervention within the closing years of Ismail's reign and the opening years of Tewfik's one that ended up with the British occupation of Egypt. The paper focuses lens mainly on the journal's early formative years (from 1878 to 1884) that shaped its orientations, defined its identity and carved its path for years to come. It also tracks the historical context in which it appeared and examines its notable impact on the Egyptian society in general and the political arena in particular amidst such turbulent milieu.

This study aims at measuring the effect of incentives and advantages on children's loyalty to fast food restaurants. Primary data has been collected from a random sample of children parents inside fast food restaurants through questionnaires. The results revealed that some of the international and local chain such as : Moomen , Pizza Queen and Pizza Hut don't offer advantages or motives to attract children, while other restaurants such MacDonald's act positively towards motivating the children. Such motivations include cartoon characters, gifts and conducting parties in schools as propaganda to attract children to fast food .The major problem is that fast food contains high calories and at the same time lacks nutritional elements and this causes a lot of health troubles. So, the study recommended encouraging the children to eat healthy food and stay away of eating fast food. It also advises parents to gain more nutritional awareness to protect their children from diseases of malnutrition and recommends fast food restaurants to contribute to producing healthy items for children.

The Study of ancient Egyptian tombs had long been an important source of information regarding many aspects of the Egyptian society. The walls of tombs made for the elite are often extensively decorated with scenes rendered in paint or in colored relief sculpture. While numerous researches have focused on the King’s scenes inscribed on the walls of ancient Egyptian temples, none of them focused on the royal family scenes in the private tombs. Hence, the current research focuses on the depiction of the royal family scenes in the Theban private tombs in the New Kingdom (Qurnet Murai, Sheikh Abd el-Qurna, and Dra Abu el-Naga). This paper aims to introduce some new royal family scenes from unpublished tombs at Thebes and to know new remarks about the reasons of depicting the royal scenes in the private tombs at Thebes.

The Islamic art is distinguished by the affluence in representing mythical creatures, they are not only countless but also variant in shapes. Utilizing these creatures in the Islamic art was an outlet for the Islamic artist from any religious restrictions, strange and unfamiliar creatures, peerless in reality, so the artist will avoid mimicking God's creation. The different phases of the Islamic art of Egypt presented us with various mythical creatures such as the harpy, griffin, phoenix, sphinx, etc. This research sheds light on sphinx specifically. It appeared in many artifacts since the Umayyad period of Egypt. The research is an attempt to study both historical and artistic backgrounds of this mythical creature in the Islamic art of Egypt

Email marketing emerged as a viable marketing activity in the 1990s with the ascent of the Internet. As web sites and web traffic proliferated, businesses were able to use email to reach growing numbers of potential customers at a very low cost. Specifically hospitality and travel firms use e-mail marketing in maintaining a long-term relationship with customers. With the fact that empirical studies on e-mail newsletters are nil, especially studies focusing on e-mail newsletters in the hospitality and travel industries, this study proceeds with considering literature on email marketing, customer retention and relationship marketing together with information on hospitality and travel firms to provide insights into the effectiveness of using e-mail newsletters. The study depends on an empirical study based on a questionnaire survey of a probability random sample of travel agents’ clients in Cairo, to understand their views, the level of their interest and level of influence by email marketing in general and travel agents’ email marketing in particular.

This paper aims at investigating leader-follower value congruence in the Egyptian hotel industry. The impact of employees’ cultural values (power distance, uncertainty avoidance, and individualism vs. collectivism) on their perception of the appropriate leadership style (transactional and transformational leadership style) was theoretically discussed and empirically tested. To date, no studies have sought to link these two constructs (leadership styles and employees' cultural values), and therefore no model exists to theoretically and/or practically link these concepts within the hospitality industry in Egypt, a gap this paper aims to fill. A structured questionnaire derived from an extensive literature review was completed by employees in five star hotels. A total of 500 responses were obtained. One hundred uncompleted questionnaires were eliminated leaving 400 usable questionnaires with a response rate of 80%. Reliability of the variables was analyzed by employing Cronbach’s alpha method, exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was used to test the dimensional structure of the study variables, and finally, Path analysis in structural equation modeling (SEM) was conducted to assess the research hypotheses. The results of the current study give evidence that might help hotel managers to adopt certain leadership styles to fit with the employees’ cultural values. The implications of the current study results were then discussed and interpreted.
